Luqman Olatokunbo Obileye

Luqman Olatokunbo Obileye is a co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of B-KO Citadel Limited, a firm of consultants. In this role, he provides strategic leadership for the organisation in various public and private sector engagements across critical sectors of the Nigerian economy. Prior to starting B-K-O Citadel, he had 18 years’ value-adding experience in retail and commercial banking with the now defunct Habib Nigeria Bank Plc and its successor organisation, Bank PHB Plc (now Keystone Bank). He was a member of ‘Project Oak’, the team that worked with global consulting firm, KPMG to deliver Bank PHB, the business combination of Habib Nigeria Bank and Platinum Bank in 2006. Luqman holds a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and two Masters Degrees in Business Administration (with specialisation in Marketing) and Managerial Psychology from the Delta State University and the University of Ibadan respectively. In 2006, he was awarded global Fellowship of the Leadership for Environment and Development (LEAD) having participated in intensive global training sessions on leadership and world sustainable issues, backed up with field visits to Senegal and India. He is also a Fellow of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN), and member of the International Council of Small Business (ICSB). In the last ten years, Luqman’s work experience traversed both the public and the private sectors of the Nigerian economy. During this period, he has gained vast and vital experience in business development, management and leadership, policy formulation and analysis, corporate planning and strategy, capacity building, change management, stakeholder management, small business development and support, amongst others.

 

An intelligent leader and strategist, he has a big passion for development issues and for developing small businesses and supporting the men and women that manage them. He is a confident, self-motivated and resourceful individual (and public speaker) with a high level of leadership and management acumen and an uncommon ability to lead from in front or behind. Luqman has worked as a consultant to several World Bank funded projects such as the State Integrated Financial Management Information System (SIFMIS), the Federal Ministry of Finance Youth Employment and Social Support Operations (YESSO), and the World Bank/Federal Ministry of Trade and Industry Growth and Employment (GEM) Project. He has also worked with Coffey International Limited/United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (DFID) on the Growth and Employment in States (GEMS) – Wholesale and Retail Sector Project.

As a member of the Nigerian Team of the Global Entrepreneurship Consortium. Luqman worked with a team from seven African countries to deliver a 3-Year Multi-Country Policy Research and Capacity Building Project on ‘Fostering Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Livelihoods in sub-Saharan Africa with particular emphasis on Youth Entrepreneurship’.  Luqman was a foundation member of the School-Based Management Committee (SBMC) of the prestigious Kings College Lagos (2010 to 2012). He is a Nigerian Team Member of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor Consortium/Global Entrepreneurship Research Association and a trainer/small business mentor with Fate Foundation (Nigeria’s premier private sector trainer of entrepreneurs). He has facilitated and attended several programmes especially on Team Building, Entrepreneurship, Small Business Development, Community and Social Development, Banking and Finance, Leadership and Development, Gender and Vulnerable Groups, etc. He holds several awards and recognitions especially for his role in supporting organisations and self-empowerment of the youths. He is happily married with children.
